Selectors' Choice DJ's pick up a slow night at Bliss Bar in San Francisco. Fourth Sunday of the Month you should expect to get down with good old soul, funk, reggae and whatever else Mr Rogers and Lieutenant Dan decide to spin out at Bliss Bar. We'll try to keep recording and keep posting. Enjoy the mixes, but realize that the in person is so much better. Bliss has a sound system that you can really sink into.

Selectors' Choice Live at Bliss Bar 09 06 2009

Playing to a packed house on a holiday weekend, Soul Suspect and Mr Rogers start the night off with 60's Soul moving into some rugged funky cuts. This moves into some slow heavy bass hip hop and danchall beats that had people shaking in their seats and dancing in the aisles. It was a smash hit! Enjoy all 4+ hours of aural education!

Thanks to all the attendees, especially the dancing fools.

Selectors' Choice Live at Bliss Bar 08 23 2009

This solid set was poorly documented... the set list may take some time. But that should not discourage you from putting this one on the Hi-Fi. Deep soul cuts from Soul Suspect's archives leads into a pile of Northern Soul and then back to more bassy heavy soul beats including a Graham Central Station killer. Overall a super groovy Sunday.

Selectors' Choice Live at Bliss Bar 07 26 2009

Once again, Soul Suspect and Mr Rogers rock the Bliss Bar together. Starting it off, Soul Suspect spins jazzy funky salsa beats. Mr Rogers follows that with some deep bass groovers. Back to the Suspect with seventies funkiness. For dessert, some slow groovin' hip-hop and then bringing it way down, Mr Rogers serves up a couple soulful closers. Thanks to all the attendees.

Selectors' Choice Live at Bliss Bar 06 21 2009

Mr Rogers ran it solo this week. It was fast and funky Northern Soul mixed up with some dirty funky tracks. As the evening wore on, Mr Rogers dropped in some rootsy reggae with a couple of dancehall crushers. I hate to keep saying it, but you should have been there. It was smokin! Ask any of the 6 people who actually showed up.

Selectors' Choice Live at Bliss Bar 04 26 2009

Together again, Mr Rogers and Soul Suspect (aka Lieutenant Dan) get crazy at Bliss Bar. This night was a rocker! Full of 60's psychadelic groovy tunes, crushing 70's southern fried goodness, finished off with some smoothed out funky hip hop grooves and a slow reggae soul. When you hear it, you'll be sad you weren't there in person.

Selectors' Choice is up again in 1 month (May 24). Put it on your calendar, for good measure.

Selectors' Choice Live at Bliss Bar 03 22 2009

Together again, Mr Rogers and Soul Suspect (aka Lieutenant Dan) get crazy at Bliss Bar 03 22 2009. Call it loft style mash-up and dubby dub. Or something like that. The mix of funk and hiphop with some crazy acapella mixes, put together with the thumping low dubby beats make for an interesting set. Mr Rogers mashes together the first 90 minutes and Soul Suspect keeps it smooth and mellow for the second half. Recorded Live.
Selectors' Choice Live at Bliss Bar 02 22 2009

Mr Rogers plays solo at Bliss Bar 02 22 2009. And it's clear that Mr Rogers had his way with the turntables. The set is funk after funk after funk with lots of lovely funky ladies singing. Betty Davis, Sharon Jones, Vicki Anderson. It was better than the Oscars. Funk it up. Recorded Live.
Mr Rogers and Soul Suspect (aka Lieutenant Dan) play live at Bliss Bar 01 25 2009. This set starts with good old 70's funk. It moves into older raw funk. Then a rocksteady/soul set followed by a little old school dub to finish off. It was a great Sunday night. Recorded Live.
